Physician Job Description
A progressive, collegial group of 20 intensivists is seeking intensivists to fill full- and part-time opportunities to practice in a great community in suburban St. Louis. We are a highly successful, 100% critical care medicine practice providing a great lifestyle, flexible schedule and no on-call. This position offers an excellent salary and benefits package as well as a partnership/shareholder track. The physician sees patients at the bedside in two community hospitals as well as in the eICU Operations Center. The physician provides continuous vigilance, early intervention and ongoing care with the goal of decreasing ICU- related morbidity and mortality.
Reports To: Medical Director
Responsibilities
Clinical:- Provides bedside care as a consultant in the ICU at community hospitals.
- Provides care to patients via telemedicine from the eICU Operations Center in St. Louis.
- Performs procedures, bedside evaluations and bedside interventions in collaboration with the attending physician or primary care provider.
- Writes notes and documentation.
- In the eICU, communicates with the client hospital’s on-site intensivists, emergency room physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, house staff, transferring physician or admitting physician to obtain patient care plan.
Quality:
- Complies with best practices and other care directives endorsed by the hospital in response to performance improvement initiatives.
- Reports clinical, administrative or technical problems that result in suboptimal communication between ICU health care professionals.
- In the eICU, effectively communicates with bedside ICU interdisciplinary team members in a collegial manner to provide error-free care during routine care and emergent conditions.
- Maintains proficiency with the eICU technology and software updates.
Administrative:
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal/customer service skills as evidenced by the following:
- Facilitates interchange between health care workers to provide quality patient care outcomes
- Articulates well and uses eye contact, appropriate body language and active listening  Provides courteous, enthusiastic phone communication to employees at hospital sites
- Asks appropriate, probing questions to identify an accurate clinical picture
- Assumes ownership for problems and works to provide a resolution
- Follows through with issues in a timely fashion
Qualifications:
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Critical Care Medicine
- Graduation from an accredited school of medicine
- Ability to obtain state medical license, Federal Drug Enforcement Agency license, state controlled substance license when necessary and staff privileges at all hospitals for which coverage is being provided.
