Advanced ICU Care forms advisory board
Advanced ICU Care has established an independent board to provide
advice and leadership as the company continues to expand its critical
care monitoring services to community hospitals across the
country. Reflecting the company’s focus on providing this
life-saving model of care using telemedicine technology, Advanced ICU
Care’s advisory board consists of six individuals serving the
healthcare community across a number of disciplines.
Advanced ICU Care’s advisory board members include Kenneth Bentley, M.D., medical director of the ICU at SSM – St. Joseph Hospital of Kirkwood in St. Louis, Missouri; Phil Dellinger, M.D., director of critical care at Cooper Health System and professor of medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; Jeff Goldsmith, Ph.D., president of Health Futures, Inc., a healthcare strategic planning and forecasting firm, and associate professor of medical education at the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine; Stan Pappelbaum, M.D., managing partner of Pappelbaum, Turner & Associates, a national healthcare consultancy; Rick Richards, founder of Richards Healthcare, Inc., a rehabilitation management and healthcare staffing company; and Roy Walters, vice president and general manager of INFOHEALTH Management Corp., a healthcare information technology management and consulting firm.
Advanced ICU Care builds sales team
Scott Turner, Pam Goe and Glenn Morrison have joined Advanced ICU Care, forming the company’s core sales
team. As vice president of sales, Turner leads all sales-related
initiatives and business development activities for the company. Goe
and Morrison, as regional sales directors of the western and central
divisions, respectively, will play key roles in bringing this
life-saving technology to ICU patients across the western and central
United States.
All three possess more than 20 years of sales executive and management experience, serving clients across a number of markets including healthcare, technology, capital equipment, and professional services.
Where to find Advanced ICU Care
Advanced ICU Care will be an exhibitor at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s (IHI) international summit on redesigning hospital care June 12 – 14 in Atlanta, GA. The second-annual summit will be a convergence of IHI’s summits on critical care, patient safety, flow, and workforce development.
In April, the company attended the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) annual meeting and exposition in Orlando.
Cutting-edge technology, life-saving care model aid nurse recruitment and retention at Advanced ICU Care
Advanced ICU Care is fortunate not only to be fully staffed with
experienced critical care nurses, but also to have a number of them
ready to hire once the company adds to staff.
The company’s director of nursing, Christi Longnecker, RN, attributes Advanced ICU Care’s recruitment and retention success with the fact that nurses are able to perform a job they love – taking care of patients – while staying on the cusp of cutting-edge medical technology. Averaging 20 years of critical care experience, Advanced ICU Care’s 15 “virtual” nurses act as a resource for the bedside nurses, answering questions and sharing their critical care expertise and clinical skills.
This additional layer of around-the-clock support provided by Advanced ICU Care’s critical care nurses and intensivists can help improve nursing satisfaction at the hospital ICUs it monitors. Indeed, the company’s positive nursing environment and staffing successes may well spread to client hospital ICUs as it continues to provide on-going guidance, support and education for beside nurses.
In the News
“Marilyn
Russell, R.N., director of the 16-bed ICU at St. Mary’s, says (Advanced
ICU Care’s) service has already delivered patient care successes since
January, when the hospital began using it.
…While she emphasizes
that the remote monitoring is a supplement, not a replacement for
staff, she also says patients benefit from having intensivists evaluate
their progress; at St. Mary’s, patients are admitted by a myriad of
physician specialists.
‘The board-certified intensivists lend a different insight to the
patient’s data,’ says Russell. It gives us another set of highly
trained eyes to enhance our nurses’ efforts at the
bedside.’” (Health Facilities Management, May 2, 2006).
