knowledge necessary to care for the complex needs of acute and
critically ill patients. This certification, demonstrating a
tremendous level of expertise in critical care medicine,
reflects the dedication of Advanced ICU Care’s nurses to their
chosen specialty. Averaging 20 years experience in critical

clinical skills as well as ongoing guidance and support for
the local bedside nurses.

Our hospital partners’ eICUs performed
as well or better than other eICU facilities in nearly all of the
seven major ICU performance benchmark criteria. Key to their
performance is the implementation of clear clinical processes, as
well as the focus, collaboration and patient-centered communication
between the local bedside staff and the Advanced ICU Care
intensivists and nurses, led by Dr. Isabelle Kopec, vice president
of clinical services; Dr. Dellice Dickhaus, eICU medical director;
and Christi Longnecker, BSN, JD, CCRN, eICU nurse manager.

Saint Clare’s
Hospital named one of nation’s
100 most wired
hospitals
Saint Clare’s Hospital secured a debut spot on Hospitals & Health Networks’ 2006 list of the 100
Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems, based on the results
of the annual Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study. The
survey asks hospitals to report how they use information
technology to address five key areas: safety and quality,
customer service, business processes, workforce, and public
health and safety.
According to Hospital &
Health Network’s July cover story, the nation’s 100 Most
Wired hospitals and health systems are improving quality,
streamlining processes and driving financial returns by
investing in technology. Among other areas, the Most Wired
facilities employ a broader set of telemedicine services.
Saint Clare’s Hospital first began using Advanced ICU Care’s
eICU solution in January of this year.

“Angela Chapman, RN, BSN, who has
worked at St. Mary’s for seven years, says she was wary of the eICU
service at first, but has since found it to be a convenient
resource.
‘It’s great to
have somebody there [at Advanced ICU Care’s eICU Operations Center]
to call and say, “Do you see what I see?” You don’t have to page
anybody; you don’t have to wait for anyone to call you back. They’re
[the eICU nurses] just sitting there waiting to help you.’” (HC
Pro’s Recruitment & Retention Monthy, September,
2006).
