Our team draws upon the practical expertise of intensivists and pulmonologists who are Medical Directors within the Advanced ICU Care Medical Group as well as experienced leaders in ICU nursing and management.

Our consulting team of experienced leaders includes:

David N. Schopp, MHA - Vice President, Consulting Team

Mr. Schopp is responsible for Advanced ICU Care's consulting practice and has more than 30 years of experience working with physicians, hospitals, multi-hospital systems and insurers. Before joining with Dr. Mary Jo Gorman and Dr. Isabelle Kopec in founding Advanced ICU Care, he served in executive roles with Ascension Health, one of the largest multi-hospital systems in the country. Concurrent with his role at Ascension Health, Mr. Schopp served as Executive Director of a consulting entity he founded and grew to sponsorship by ten hospital systems. Mr Schopp has consulted to numerous health care organizations across the country on performance improvement, operations, revenue enhancement, management and board development and education as well as new business initiatives. Mr. Schopp also led the national development and acquisition program, which included managing multiple start-up businesses of a Fortune 500 health care company.

Isabelle C. Kopec, MD, FACP, FCCP - Vice President of Medical Affairs, Advanced ICU Care

Dr. Kopec has had a long career managing physician performance and quality in hospital ICU's. As a practicing intensivist and co-founder of Advanced ICU Care, she is a respected leader in critical care medicine and a true healthcare innovator.

In addition to her role at Advanced ICU Care, Dr. Kopec is Associate Chair of the department of Critical Care Medicine and past president of the medical staff at SSM - DePaul Health Center in St. Louis, MO. She has led a number of quality improvement initiatives and cost-savings projects in the ICU setting that have led to award-winning performance at her facility.

Dr. Kopec has been asked to speak on the patient safety and quality outcomes of the tele-ICU program at various national venues including the Institute for Healthcare Improvements National Forum. She has also been recognized for her contributions to healthcare and was selected as one of St. Louis' "Healthcare Heroes" in 2006. She is a member of the American College of Physician Executives and Mid-America Transplant Service's physician advisory board. Dr. Kopec is board certified in Critical Care Medicine and Internal Medicine.

 

 

Michael J. Walter, MD, FCCP - Chairman, Critical Care Medicine, SSM DePaul Health Center/Advanced ICU Care Medical Group
Member of the Advanced ICU Care Consulting Team

Dr. Walter completed both his fellowship in Critical Care Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, New York. Dr. Walter received his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Walter is board certified in Critical Care, Pulmonary and Internal Medicine. Prior to joining Advanced ICU Care, Dr. Walter served as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is the Chairman of the Critical Care Medicine Department at SSM DePaul Health Center, St. Louis, Missouri and is a practicing intensivist.

 

 

Dellice Dickhaus, MD, FCCP - Medical Director, Intensive Care Unit, Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital, Advanced ICU Care Medical Group

Dr. Dickhaus completed her Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship training at Washington University - Barnes Jewish Hospital. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Washington University - Barnes Jewish, St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Dickhaus received her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Dickhaus is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She is an experienced physician leader with several years' history as Medical Director of several ICUs and Advanced ICU Care's telemedicine practice. In her role as Medical Director, Dr. Dickhaus has implemented evidence-based best clinical and ICU management practices. Currently she is the Medical Director of Barnes Jewish West County Hospital Intensive Care Unit and is a practicing intensivist.

 

 

Gary Anderson, MHA, RN, FACHE - Vice President of Operations, Advanced ICU Care
Member of the Advanced ICU Care Consulting Team

Mr. Anderson has extensive experience in managing complex health care projects ranging from hospitalist services to neuroscience and ICU services. Mr. Anderson has overall operational responsibility for Advanced ICU Care's tele-ICU program including implementation and ongoing performance. Most recently, he was vice president of hospitalist practice operations for a private hospitalist company. Mr. Anderson has served as interim chief nursing executive and director of neurosciences, orthopedic and rehabilitation services for St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. Other career highlights include executive director of the Sutter East Bay Neuroscience Center and director of patient care and program director for neuroscience at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He began his healthcare career in ICU nursing.

Mr. Anderson holds a master's of health administration from the University of Missouri, Columbia; a bachelor's degree in nursing from Webster University in St. Louis and a nursing diploma from St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Anderson is a registered nurse in Missouri and a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
