Parkview Health now is working with a St. Louis company to enhance its ICU monitoring program.
As of Dec. 1, Advanced ICU Care® began monitoring up to 50 ICU patients at the Parkview Hospital coronary and medical ICU, the Parkview Huntington and Parkview Noble hospital constant-care units, and the Parkview North and Parkview Whitley hospital critical-care units.
The system uses remote computer monitoring and telecommunications to connect ICU patients and care providers with a central monitoring facility, which is staffed by intensivists and critical-care nurses.
Parkview Health already has a similar system in place, but intensivists are in short supply nationwide. Parkview officials said Advanced ICU Care will help provide continuous intensivist care for critical patients.
Advanced ICU Care will monitor Parkview patients from its center in St. Louis, which has intensivists and critical care nurses on staff. With the Parkview contract, the company monitors 72 ICU beds in Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin.
