Advanced ICU Care program supports critically ill patients at High Point Regional Health System

ST. LOUIS, MO (July 20, 2009) - Advanced ICU Care® announced today that it has implemented its virtual ICU program at High Point Regional Health System in High Point, NC, providing 24/7 critical care physician (intensivist) monitoring for ICU patients, in collaboration with High Point's local medical and nursing staff.

High Point Regional Hospital is now utilizing Advanced ICU Care's services in its 20 ICU beds and two coronary care unit (CCU) beds. Using telemedicine technology, the program allows Advanced ICU Care's intensivists and critical care nurses ― located at the company's Operations Center in St. Louis, MO ― to monitor critically ill patients around the clock, supplementing the care at the bedside.

Hospitals using tele-intensivist care models like Advanced ICU Care's have seen significant improvements in patient care and safety. Nationally, hospitals with this advanced technology show a 29% improvement in severity-adjusted hospital mortality. Other published studies show similar improvements in mortality rates and complications.
